Jack's Wife Freda - Carmine Street
Living in NYC you become spoiled for choice with places to eat. You also have to deal with the city's version of "Hunger Games," also known as the non-reservation brunch game of showing up and putting your name on a list. We've had Jack's Wife Freda on our running list of to-try brunch places for a long time. We'd passed it countless times as we walked to meet up with friends. Well, we found the secret to getting a table - a mid-week, work lunch at their West Village, Carmine Street location! It did not disappoint. The staff were lovely, and the food was divine - fresh and flavorful. While the eatery was busy when we walked in at noon, a number of tables were being turned for lunch, and we managed to get a comfortable spot where the people watching was optimal. We had the chicken kebob over cous-cous with avocado. For dessert we split the Malva Pudding with a friend. If you are in the city, try either the West Village or SoHo (original) location. Your stomach will be very pleased with you. And who can argue with that?
