The Winter Pick Me Up Smoothie - It's Fun & Tasty
The weather has been all over the place, and we've been craving an afternoon pick-me-up on some of the drearier weekends when we are trapped inside. Our love affair with ice cream is well-documented, but it felt odd having a bowl of it at 4p.m. on a Saturday. So we tossed ingredients into the blender and whipped up our latest concoction dubbed, "The Winter Pick-Me Up." There is no perfect way to mix it up. Toss in whatever you like, (within reason). Here's how we make ours:
-Small scoop of your favorite Fro Yo or Ice Cream, (we recently tried Edy's Vanilla Bean); you can also toss in some yogurt, (regular or Greek)
-Milk, (try half a cup and if your smoothie isn't "smooth" enough add a little more); add two cups if you are making more than one smoothie
-Small handful of fresh or frozen berries, (we always have these Dole Frozen Wildly Nutritious Mixed Berries handy when berries are out of season)
-Quarter or half banana (optional)
-Dash of coco powder, (any brand will do, so don't overthink it!); you can have a heavier hand if you like a little more of a choco-berry vibe
-Turn on your blender (we have this one) and watch the ingredients swirl until they are blended to your desired level of "smoothie-ness"
-Ice-cubes, (optional if you like your smoothie to be extra-chilled)
Enjoy you glass and some extra left-overs for a delicious afternoon treat. We may or may not have made this four times over the last two weeks. It's good. You are welcome.
