How One Woman Bought Nothing but the Essentials for One Entire Year
Imagine sticking to a spartan budget for an entire year. No extra beauty products, no transport budget and no vacation or social budget. Your spending only covers basic food, critical hygiene household items and key expenses, (e.g. mortgage). London-based financial journalist, Michelle McGagh, set this challenge for herself, and from 2015-2016 she valiantly stuck to it. Lucky for us she's chronicled how she saved up 23,000 British Pounds (about $27,000 US Dollars - very nice!). If you feel inclined to see how she did it, check out her book The No Spend Year - How I Spent Less And Lived More. And for a teaser to her eye-opening and spirit-lifting experience, read her recent article in The Telegraph. Slow clap for Michelle. We can all be more thoughtful with the items we accumulate and how we spend our hard-earned cash.
