Wireless Headphones: Bose, Jaybird and i.am+ BUTTONS
We've dipped our toe in the wireless headphone landscape. The need came up when our headphones were getting caught on some of the free weights we were breaking a sweat with. There were also few awkward "running on treadmill-headphones getting caught on treadmill heart device and yanking out of our ears" moments.
We've tried offerings from Bose and Jaybird. There are pros and cons to both. The Jaybird X2 (note that now there is a X3 version) was a little more work to set up and get fitted, but it was also a little fun and mysterious to watch the online video, (which exists in lieu of a traditional instruction pamphlet). The footprint on your ear is small, but we had to do a few refits to get the snuggest earbud fit. Also, a couple of us had one of the earbuds fall out, (hint: each ear may be a slightly different size, so try different size combos out). The Bose SoundSport wireless headphones were easy to set-up and fit, but stick out on your ear much more than the Jaybird. We did not have an issue with this, and we were, admittedly, a little biased because we had previously worn regular Bose headphones. The sound quality on both headsets and battery life were comparable, (check out the latest models from Bose and Jaybird to see the most up to date specs e.g. Jaybird's X3 has 8 hour battery life). You can't go wrong with either brand. In terms of wireless ear buds that are high style, we haven't tried these, but the i.am+ BUTTONS blue tooth, wireless headphones are sleek. And yes, they are by THAT will.i.Am.
