The Woman Destroyed
We have a confession -- we judge books by their cover. It's horrible we know. Actually that's not completely true, but when we are in bookstores, we do this. Who goes to bookstores anymore? Well, last week we did. Ahead of a meeting downtown, we popped into Chelsea Market. (If you are going to the High Line, you should also make time to meander through this bustling indoor market.) We ended up in a bookstore and saw this gem by Simone De Beauvoir. Yes, the topics are intense, but it's Simone! In our teens we were mildly obsessed with her lover and fellow philosopher, Jean-Paul Sartre. The reviews are excellent, and the cover is brilliant...sold. Our copy is on its way from Amazon. Sometimes you have to let yourselves go to a deep, emotionally complex place while holding a hot pink book in your hands...
