Your New Fav Drink: The Flat White
We can categorically credit our dear Australian friends for helping us discover the delight of the flat white. On our first trip down under we were blown away by the coffee. But, you don't have to travel around the world to experience the wondrous flat white. You might have noticed Starbucks offers it. We are sure it is delish (Sbux love!), but maybe you want to go somewhere with a little more Aussia ambiance? In NYC there is an ever-growing footprint of Australian coffee houses. The coffee competition in the Big Apple is, admittedly, steep, but these outposts from Oz are always bustling with diverse customers, delicious bites and welcoming staff.
In Midtown East check out Little Collins. Literally "little" and narrow, you should get there before the lunch rush to grab a high table and a sandwich with your bevvie. You can even get take-out. The chicken schnitzel sandwich is superb.
Bluestone Lane has coffee shop and café outposts in nearly every 'hood in the city. Over the weekend we popped into the BL West Village location which, fun fact, used to be a hipster barber shop before it morphed into a coffee mecca. We enjoyed our flat white with banana bread and berries with drizzled honey. The people watching was excellent. (The table next to us was plotting their Tinder and Bumble escapades!)
Now we just have to perfect the art of the pour to make flat whites at home. Practice makes perfect...#FlatWhite4Life
