Before You Workout, Eat this Wafel

Before You Workout, Eat this Wafel

Years ago one of our nearest and dearest returned from a summer exchange program in the Netherlands. As she unpacked her luggage, we aggressively loitered nearby to see what gifts were about to be bestowed on us. In addition to a Backstreet Boys cassette (yes we dated ourselves) and the prediction that "this band is going to be huge in America one day," we were given a packet of stroopwafels. We were instructed to warm up our coco/tea and let the wafel sit on top of the steaming mug for a few minutes to warm it up before devouring it. As the years passed, when we got the chance to pass through Amsterdam, the Hague or even grab a connecting flight through Schipol, we would aggressively buy, hoard and gift stroopwafels.

Recently in Starbucks we noticed Rip van Wafels in dark chocolate sea salt (which, for the record, is splendid). The story behind the brand is lovely. Hard-work, taste-testing, passion, clever engineering and grit that grew the brand over years. (Shout-out to all our Brown University friends who are entrepreneurs!). Do yourself a favor and try one. You can also save some cash by ordering the 16-pack or 64-pack boxes via a subscription service directly from the Rip van Wafels' site. We just signed up for the service which gives you a 20% discount (you can cancel it anytime). You can also buy it on Amazon. The best part is the wafels come in single packets which make them perfect for, well, everyone! Cyclists, athletes and generally any human on-the-go will be able to enjoy this delectable delight. And, they are healthy! Explore all the flavors. Heerlijk! [Delicious!] #WafelTime
