Berry Good Breakfast: Starting the Day Off Right
We love berries. You may recall at the start of the year we wrote about our Berry Good smoothie to aid our post holiday detox. This weekend we tapped into our childhood weekend traditional of dining on waffles, but we took some short-cuts with gluten-free goodies from Trader Joe's, topped off with fresh berries and Trader Joe's maple syrup. Breakfast can set the tone for your day and as we get older, we try to make an effort. It's not always easy to cut out processed foods, but increasingly we are limiting ourselves to fresher ingredients that end up making us feel better throughout the day. Admittedly, it's not realistic to whip up cage-free eggs and eat them with fresh bread and berries every-day. Who has time to properly cook brekkie while rushing around before work, dropping the kids off at school or walking the dog?
This morning we were running a little late so a green smoothie and Almond-Banana Butter muffin from JuiceGeneration hit the spot and kept us focused for hours. A couple of years ago a trainer told us to replace our breakfast bars with these two easy breakfast options: Greek yogurt, with a dash of honey and blueberries. On colder days, steel cut oats with jam or some brown sugar and a dash of cinnamon. Oh, and don't forget the Nespresso skim-latte. What's your easy go-to breakfast?
