First Lady Fashion Confidential: Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis
With an election year in the U.S., the potential First Ladies (or perhaps the First Man!) will be scrutinized based on how they dress - which doesn't seem fair considering that half of a power couple brings much more to the table than appearance. Of course, we can't deny that First Ladies of the United States have been, to varying degrees, style icons and drivers for the fashion industry (a $1.2 trillion dollar industry according to this February 2015 report).
Looking back at First Lady fashion, we remain fascinated by portraits of Jacqueline O's trip to India. She wore American dresses in a scrumptious color assortment, as an ode to her destination. Yes, we are true New Yorkers that have too much black in our closets, but the vibrant color palette of South Asian fashion is intoxicating. As spring approaches, and the election draws closer, we think some "power" reds and pinks could be gently woven into our wardrobe. Enjoy the pictures and if you fancy another tribute to this iconic First Lady, explore, Mrs. Kennedy Goes Abroad (a good Mother's Day gift if you are planning ahead).
