Jet Set - Bangkok
Before we travel, we make it a point to ask friends and family for their tips. We've known globe-trotter, Pana Brenner, for over a decade. Pana's travels inspired us to start the In the Midfield, Jet Set series. In our first edition, Pana and our team offer select tips on a few glamorous locations around the world. First up is Bangkok, Thailand. We asked Pana to share how she unwinds and reboots in Bangkok.
Detox – In January of this year, after a couple of weeks of indulging in holiday meals, I did a much-needed 5-day juice detox with daily cold pressed juice delivery from Life Style Juice. Invigorating. I coupled that with a personalized detox program at Hydro Health. I felt totally rejuvenated.
Decompress – Thailand has top quality spas for reasonable prices. Check out the spa at the St. Regis Hotel (#1 in my book). Luxurious reset for the mind, body and soul. And, a spa day is a great way to get over jet lag.
We cannot wait to try out Pana's wellness tips. Thanks Pana!
The entire In the Midfield team hasn’t made it to Bangkok yet, but in additional to sampling the cuisine, glorious markets and beautiful temples, we've rounded up a few ideas for our future itinerary:
Caffeine Fix – Grab a cuppa at the local Artís Bangkok Café. We checked out their San Francisco location and fell in love with their approach to brewing. The staff are incredibly nice and the cafe's design is as pleasing as the delicious coffee in your mug. (@ArtísCoffee) and @ArtísCoffeeBangkok)
Retail Therapy – Explore the Jim Thompson retail and restaurant offerings throughout the city. American businessman, Thompson, revitalized the Thai silk industry. His brand is well-known globally and has sophisticated home goods and clothes in a rage of textile offerings—the kids’ clothes with animal motifs are especially adorable. Grab an iconic Jim Thompson silk elephant. Check out the Jim Thompson Museum House too for a look at how the-man-behind-the-brand lived.
Happy Eating – Get a reservation at the high-end, award winning Thai restaurant, Nahm. Advise your waiter of your spice tolerance before you order (thank you to the TripAdvisor reviewers for this tip).
Art Bangkok Style – A progressive art scene is thriving in this Asian metropolis. We’ve read about the Art Center at Chulalongkorn University, and its innovative exhibitions – thoughtful, edgy art - yes please.
We can't wait to go to Bangkok.
