We Love the 1990s
When we were pre-teens/teenagers in the 1990s, the 70s seemed so cool. Maybe it was because we dug the fashion on Dazed and Confused, but we don't think we ever truly appreciated the fashion of the 1990s while we lived it. This past summer we noticed gals wearing platform canvas shoes and stretchy, "tattoo-style" chokers. It was like we were seeing looks straight out of Clueless (which was made 20 years ago!!). We have the film's costume designer, Mona May, to thank for the plaid mini-skirt collection of our youth. She sat down with Harper's Bazaar this past July to reflect on the film's iconic impact on fashion.
Our nostalgia for the 90s only intensified with the series Hindsight (we are waiting to see who picks up this fun series for Season 2). Hindsight reminded us about the 90's music of our youth, so of course we added some alternative 90's beats to our current interval running mix. Which brings us to our latest discovery - Alanis Morrisette on the Late Late Show performing a revamped "Ironic". We have no words - it's brilliant. #LongLiveThe90s
